Brain Injury Waiver
The BIW provides home and community-based rehabilitation services and coordination to MO HealthNet recipients (ages 21 to 65) who are living with a traumatic brain injury (TBI). Participants must require medical care equivalent to the level of care received in a nursing home and not be enrolled in another state waiver.

Brain Injury Waiver
A participant must:
• Be a Missouri resident
• Be between the ages of 21 to 65
• Be enrolled in MO HealthNet (fee-for-service)
• Have a federally matched MO HealthNet Eligibility (ME) code
• Require medical care equivalent to the level of care received in a nursing home
• Have medical documentation of a TBI
• Not be enrolled in another state waiver

Service Coordination may include:
• Evaluation and assessment of rehabilitation needs
• Identification and access to approved rehabilitation service providers
• Development and implementation of a person-centered plan of care
• Identification of rehabilitation resources and referral
• Assistance in establishment of a medical home
• Planning for transition
• Authorization of medically necessary rehabilitation services, including:
o Applied Behavioral Analysis
o Assistive Technology
o Cognitive Rehabilitation Therapy
o Environmental Access and Modification
o Neuropsychological Evaluation and Consultation
o Occupational Therapy
o Personal Care (After State Plan services are exhausted)
o Physical Therapy
o Speech Therapy
